Next round of RVSA consultation commencing soon

Road Vehicle Standards Act

The Department of Infrastructure has announced that it will be releasing some additional Road Vehicle Standards Act (RVSA) guidance material for review within approximately the next week.

These will include a guide to component type approvals and a discussion paper on component type approvals which will rely on old test evidence where the test facilities no longer exist.

HVIA will circulate these documents to the HVIA RVSA working group as soon as they become available.

If you are not already on the working group and with to participate or have any questions on the RVSA, please contact Greg Forbes on 0437923755 or g.forbes@hvia.asn.au.

The Department will be holding a teleconference on 30 April AEST from 2pm to 3pm to discuss the new documents.

As part of the consultation group, HVIA will be participating in the teleconference but the Department has indicated that HVIA can also invite members to participate. If you are interested, please contact Greg Forbes.

The Department has also acknowledged that the COVID 19 Pandemic has delayed the intended go live date for registering testing facilities but that it is working to open registrations in May and is still working to a progressive roll out of the RVSA legislation over the coming months.
