New RAV Site Incorporates Safer Freight Vehicles

The Department of Infrastructure and Transport has recently launched a new Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV) website that features improved user-friendliness and also includes Safer Freight Vehicle information on relevant approvals.

Search results are now presented in two columns, rather than a table, making the vehicle details easier to read.

The Department has also provided a hyperlink from the approval number to the published approval details listed on the ROVER sign-in page.

What’s more, when users search for a second stage of manufacture vehicle, the search results provide information on both vehicle entries – the original vehicle and the second stage of manufacture vehicle.

The Department stresses there are no changes to the way users need to submit vehicles to the RAV.

The original public search site is still available and will operate alongside the new site for the foreseeable future. However, the original site will not display Safer Freight Vehicle information.

Announced by Federal Assistant Minister for Infrastructure and Transport Carol Brown last September, the Safer Freight Vehicles package increased the overall width limit from 2.50 to 2.55 metres for new trucks that are fitted with a number of safety features. More details are available here.
