Can your workshop help with tech upgrades?

HVIA seeks expressions of interest from members with workshops/service facilities – to potentially assist with telematics system upgrades.

As previously outlined, Telstra and Optus have announced the closure of the Australian 3G network from mid-2024.

This means that all systems relying on the 3G network for communication will cease to function after that date. This includes vehicle telematics systems.

Consultations with members supplying telematics systems to the Australian market have identified the possibility of resourcing gaps in the period leading up to the closure.

One possible solution is for HVIA members with workshops or service facilities to be trained in telematics systems installs, to perform them on behalf of the telematics system provider.

HVIA is seeking expressions of interest from members regarding this proposal. Members coming forward will be collated into a list, which will be given to telematics system providers.

From there, it will be up to the telematics system providers to make contact with the workshops/service centres that they wish to work with.
