In mid-December, the NHVR published a draft of proposed updates to the Heavy Vehicle Inspection Manual (HVIM).
The changes are editorial in nature to improve clarity.
For example, some trailer brake inspection items that were in Section 2 – Brakes have now been move to Section 14 – Trailers and format has been changes to be similar to the VBS6 documentation.
HVIA is preparing a response to the draft and we will be taking the opportunity to highlight some issues in the HVIM, including around tyres (inflation) and brakes (auto slack adjusters).
The draft of the revised HVMI can be downloaded here:
HVIA is currently preparing a submission, which is due by the 29th January.
