HVIA is seeking feedback from members to guide amendments to the Heavy Vehicle (Vehicle Standards) National Regulation.
This is in response to a request from the National Transport Commission (NTC) for members to put forward any issues they have with the current regulation.
The process forms part of the NTC’s periodic maintenance to ensure the standards remain contemporary, nationally consistent, efficient, effective and aligned with agreed policy.
Identified issues should be:
- Minor – Amendments not involving a change of policy but may make the legislation clearer (amendments are in line with policy intent).
- Technical – Amendments include the correction of minor errors, updating language, adding notes, improving syntax, omitting redundant provisions and other minor changes to update or improve the form of legislation.
- Uncontroversial – Amendments within the dictionary definition of the term, and consistent with the term as expressed in Cabinet and Legislation handbooks of jurisdictions and the meaning as applied to amendments contained in Statute Law (Miscellaneous Provisions) Bills used in several jurisdictions.
HVIA invites members to complete the template form available here and submit it by email to Adam Ritzinger prior to COB Friday, June 7.
Alternatively, contact Adam on 0437 901 669 to discuss the detail on any potential issue of interest.
