QLD’s Highest-Achieving Apprentices Recognised In Awards

The state’s highest-achieving apprentices were recognised at the 2024 TAFE Queensland SkillsTech CSQ Apprentice Awards held at the Royal International Convention Centre on October 10.

Selected from those currently training with TAFE Queensland SkillsTech, 16 apprentices received awards at the gala ceremony, including Drake Trailers’ Corin Brewer, who was awarded the HVIA Heavy Commercial Industries Apprentice of the Year gong by Bisbane Truck Show Event Manager Kay Marco.

Other winners included:

  • TradeTools Carpentry Apprentice of the Year: Harrison Steptoe, MIGAS Apprentices & Trainees
  • Coke Vending Furnishing Trades Apprentice of the Year: Jeremy Boulton, Total Fitouts Brisbane Inner North
  • Cbus Construction Apprentice of the Year: Dina Sobol, Aztak Upholstery
  • TAFE Queensland Foundation Painting and Decorating Apprentice of the Year: Shimeka Holland, Amalgamated Painting Service
  • Brick and Block Careers Bricklaying Apprentice of the Year: Amy Stubbs, Brad Gray Bricklaying
  • Reece Australia Plumbing and Gas Fitting Apprentice of the Year: Benjamin Kenny, Theuerkauf Plumbing Services
  • MEGT Electrical Apprentice of the Year: Tayler Raisbeck, Alfa Air & Electrical
  • Fluke Australia Air Conditioning and Refrigeration Apprentice of the Year: Amy-Lee Murray, Woolworths Format Development
  • Viva Energy Light Automotive Apprentice of the Year: Mitchell Vessey, Zupps Aspley
  • Weld Australia Engineering and Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year: Lachlan Kemble, MIGAS Apprentices & Trainees
  • CTIAQ Recreational Vehicle Apprentice of the Year: Xavier Johansen, Caravan Repair Centre
  • Yokogawa Instrumentation Apprentice of the Year: Timmothy Dean, SEQ Water
  • MAS National School-based Apprentice of the Year: Layla Benstead, SJD Electrical, Bribie Island State High School
  • BUSY At Work General Manager’s Apprentice of the Year: Lachlan Debel, NRG Services
  • CSQ Outstanding Apprentice of the Year: Amy-Lee Murray, Woolworths Format Development.

Additionally, construction company McNab picked up the Bailey Ladders Large Employer of the Year; and machine control and positioning systems distributor Aptella nabbed the AEN Small Employer of the Year award.
