National Awards Gala Dinner Tickets On Sale Next Week

Tickets are set to go on sale for the HVIA National Awards Gala Dinner 2023, which this year will be held at the home of the Brisbane Truck Show – the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre – on Friday, November 24.

Following on from a full house at last year’s event – which marked the long-awaited return of the annual gala dinner, HVIA Chief Executive Todd Hacking anticipates another strong showing this year.

The awards, he says, are a great opportunity for the heavy vehicle industry to come together in unity and celebrate their achievements, innovations, commitment to community, and focus on safety both within their workplaces as well as the equipment and technology they supply.

Winners will be announced for each of five categories:

  • National Apprentice of the Year Award;
  • Peter Langworthy Future Leader Award;
  • Community Leadership Award;
  • Product Innovation Award; and
  • Safety Innovation Award.

Finalists from the HVIA’s Southern Region will be honoured at an event in Melbourne next week. The remaining finalists will be recognised at the dinner before the national winners are announced for each of the categories:

“We are delighted to invite our members and friends to come together for this special occasion where we will celebrate some of the great achievers and achievements of the past 12 months,” Hacking says.

“This is a great opportunity to meet up with colleagues and industry peers, even if you aren’t involved in the awards nominations.

“Every year we are honoured to witness more of our members’ extraordinary innovation and ingenuity being revealed.

“That is along with the joy it brings us to recognise some amazing young industry people at the start of what we expect to be a long and fulfilling career in the heavy industry.

“I hope as many of our members as possible will join us for this well-deserved celebration.”

The Gala Awards are also an opportunity to reflect on the importance of the industry and the work it does each day, he adds.

“It is important on nights like these to remember that it is not just a seven-letter word; it’s food, it’s sanitisation, it’s essential fuels, it’s equipment for our hospitals, parts for our machines, the construction materials that build roads, schools, and our shelter – literally the clothes on our backs.

“And whether your role is making a truck or a trailer, selling it, repairing it, making a component or piece of technology to make the task safer or more efficient, we all play a vital role,” Hacking says.

The HVIA National Awards Gala Dinner 2023 is made possible through the support of Principal Partners NTI and Truck Assist, Category Sponsors Caltex, Geotab, Wurth and the Langworth Family, and Event Partners Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre and TAFE Queensland.

The Awards Gala Dinner will take place from 6.30pm-11.30pm on Friday, November 24 in the Plaza Terrace Room of the Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre.

Tickets go on sale from next Wednesday, October 11. Look out for more details in next week’s Torque the Talk, including our reveal of all the finalists!
