New guidance material on using other approvals to support a vehicle type approval application simplifies the approach to using component type approvals (CTAs) and UN ECE approvals in support of a vehicle type approval.
HVIA members had been clear with Department of Infrastructure representatives that requirements foreshadowed at recent presentations were too onerous according to National Policy and Government Relations Manager Greg Forbes.
“For manufacturers using UN ECE approved components from overseas the requirements to demonstrate control were too much,” Mr Forbes said.
“We wrote to the Department following the workshops and I am pleased to see that they have responded sensibly on this issue,” Mr Forbes said.
“The Department has also foreshadowed updated guidance around Model Reports, Recalls and RAV authority processes but we are still waiting on those just three weeks out from ‘go live’.”
