Industry Feedback Drives Further ROVER Changes

The Department of Infrastructure has been quick to respond to issues raised in the August 5 Industry Feedback Forum for the ROVER Portal Rebuild, identifying some “quick wins” which it has packaged into ROVER Release 9.1.

Key changes to ROVER, the Department’s online portal for applications and approvals under the Road Vehicle Standards (RVS) legislation, include:

  • RAV entry submissions: From the RAV page, you will be able to submit vehicles to the RAV by uploading a file (CSV or XML) or by completing a form.
  • Navigation: You will be able to navigate to the published approvals page more easily.
  • Decision notices: You will be able to download a decision notice from the manage applications page.
  • Document lists: The number of documents displayed in lists on applications will increase from four to 10.
  • Searching: You will be able to find information more easily with search functionality added to the authority to act page of the portal.
  • Australian Design Rules (ADRs): When completing compliance information forms, it will be easier to find ADRs listed in the dropdown menu as they will be displayed in numerical order.
  • RVD images: You will be able to name an image set.
  • RVD remarks: You will be able to see more than four lines of text in the comments box on the RVD page.
  • Applications for older vehicles: In addition to providing photos of the front, rear and side of the vehicle, you will be asked to provide photos of the engine bay and interior of the vehicle.
  • Applications for trailers: When you apply via the concessional pathway, the question on whether the trailer is fitted with an MVSA plate will be made easier to understand.

Release 9.1 is due to go live on Wednesday, September 11 and the system outage for the update will be from 5:00pm to 10:00pm on that day

HVIA Transport Policy and Legislation Adviser Greg Forbes says the fact the Department has been so quick to respond to these issues is a good sign.

“I look forward to when we can get some of the bigger issues addressed,” he adds.

The Department will hold a demonstration on how RAV submitters can use this new feature in the ROVER portal (including how to complete a RAV submission form and upload a list of vehicles via the RAV page) on Wednesday, September 2024 at 11:00am AEST.

There is no need to RSVP to this event. The demonstration will be hosted via GovTEAMS and you can join via the links below.
