The Department of Treasury has released a Consultation Regulation Impact Statement looking at potential changes to the Consumer Guarantees and Supplier Indemnification Provisions under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL).
The discussion paper specifically looks at changes related to new motor vehicles due to the number of complaints received by the ACL regulators.
HVIA believes that most of the problems are related to the light vehicle industry rather than the heavy vehicle industry but believes manufacturers and dealers need to understand the options under consideration.
HVIA will contact members in the New Year to prepare an industry response, but members should consider providing individual responses to the Consultation RIS.
Submissions close on 11 February.
