Vehicle Manufacturing Hub

HVIA recently renewed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with local school, Glenala State High School, to support the delivery of the Certificate 2 in Automotive Vocational Preparation (heavy vehicle stream) through its Trade Skills Centre.

Under the Gateway to Industry Schools program managed by the Queensland Government, Glenala SHS has agreed to become a gateway hub for vehicle manufacturing utilising its engineering facilities to deliver a Certificate 2 in Engineering Pathways (vehicle manufacturing).

The school will hold quarterly meetings, bringing together industry and representatives from other secondary schools, to discuss appropriate skill development and ‘hands on’ work experience for students.

The program creates a conduit for ‘work ready’ school leavers who will have basic skills upon entering the trailer manufacturing and vehicle body building sectors of the industry. HVIA plans to promote this model nationally.
