WEBINAR – Construction Logistics and Community Safety initiative

CILTA invite you to a webinar about the origins and processes undertaken to develop CLOCS-A including how it will operate, when it will be launched and the benefits it will bring to community road safety within Australia.

CLOCS-A is a national voluntary Standard developed with the primary aim of better managing potential hazards created by the road transport and logistics activities associated with large construction projects.

The Standard has been collaboratively developed by representatives from industry, government, researchers and community associations.

The aim of CLOCS-A is to reduce the risk of road trauma involving construction vehicles whilst improving the efficiency and productivity of logistics.   The collaborative development of the (CLOCS-A) Standard and supporting tools by the National Road Safety Partnership Program (NRSPP) is now complete.

HVIA’s National Policy and Government Relations Manager Greg Forbes said the CLOCS scheme in the UK has been a leader in addressing the safety of vulnerable road users around construction sites.

“Jurisdictions in Australia have dabbled in these issues for years,” Mr Forbes said.

“CLOCS-A provides a consistent framework for addressing these issues in Australia that industry can embrace for the benefit of the broader community.”

The CLOCS-A program has been handed over to the Chartered Institute for Logistics and Transport Australia (CILTA) to be operationalised.

The webinar panel features:

  • Jerome Carslake – Director of NRSPP (Chair of CLOCS-A Steering Group)
  • Karyn Welsh – CEO of CILTA (CLOCS-A operational lead)
  • Matthew Moon – Acciona (CLOCS-A Steering Group Member)
  • a tier-one construction company, to provide an industry perspective.
