Speaker Milton Dick MP Visits HVIA HQ

HVIA was pleased to welcome Milton Dick, Member for Oxley and Speaker of the House of Representatives, on a recent visit to HVIA’s national office at Seventeen Mile Rocks on April 23.

Milton (pictured above third from left) met with (from L-R) HVIA board members Craig Lee (Penske Australia) and John Drake (Drake Group) as well as CEO Todd Hacking and Chief Advocacy Officer Aaron Johnstone to discuss the current conditions and priorities facing Australia’s heavy vehicle industry.

As the local Federal Member for Oxley, which is home to HVIA’s national office and many HVIA members, the visit was a valuable opportunity to highlight the strength and importance of the heavy vehicle sector in both the local region, and Australia-wide.

Discussions covered key industry challenges and opportunities such as the current difficulties facing the trucking sector stemming from the Middle East fuel crisis, productivity reform, decarbonisation, workforce skills and local manufacturing, and the role of technology in improving road safety.

The meeting also provided an excellent opportunity to discuss HVIA’s national events program, including the 2027 Brisbane Truck Show, the upcoming TruckShowX conference and expo (May 18-19) and Truck Week (May 11-18).

HVIA thanks Milton for taking the time to visit and for his ongoing interest in ensuring the heavy vehicle industry continues to play a strong role in Australia’s economy and supply chains.
