The Women’s Network initiative will provide support to females who are part of HVIA member organisations, to feel included in the Heavy Vehicle Industry and want to remain a part of it. Our vision overall is to increase female participation in the heavy vehicle industry, and we are looking forward to working closely with members to achieve this outcome.
The Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) 2024 – 2025 report showed that there is still much work to be done to bridge the gap. The publicly available data explorer for this period shows that the number of female CEOs in Transport, Postal and Warehousing was 11%, Machinery Operators and Drivers, 12%, and Technicians and Trades workers, just 7%.

The network will also aim to support member organisations by sharing the success stories of our industry colleagues and how they have crafted programs which deliver results and support increase female participation. We will connect like minded members, host events, collaborate with industry partners and encourage female members to participate in our industry.
The objective of the HVIA Women’s Network is not to compete with or replace any existing initiatives, but to fill gaps in the current industry offerings which may at times be limited in their ability to service our specific membership base. HVIA have already worked closely in the past attending events or supporting groups such as Trades Women Australia (TWA), Transport Women Australia (TWAL), Women of Zero Emissions Vehicles (WoZEV+), National Women in Transport and more. We look forward to continuing to work closely with our industry colleagues and directly with our members to increase the number of Women working in the Heavy Vehicle Industry in the future.
