Show Students Where STEM Comes To Life

HVIA members are invited to share the heavy vehicle industry’s extraordinary innovation story at the CSIRO’s #WithSTEMYouCan Careers Expo to be held in Western Sydney on Wednesday, August 5.

Few industries demonstrate the practical application of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) as comprehensively as ours. Every day, engineers, designers, technicians, software specialists, manufacturers and operators work together to solve real-world challenges that improve safety, productivity and sustainability while keeping Australia moving.

The CSIRO’s #WithSTEMYouCan Careers Expo will bring together more than 700 students from Years seven-10 to explore future opportunities with industry.

The event is designed to help students connect classroom learning with the practical application of science, technology, engineering and maths, and it presents an outstanding opportunity to demonstrate some of the story behind the scenes of the heavy vehicle industry.

HVIA is inviting you to help us present our dynamic ecosystem of engineering, manufacturing, logistics, technology, energy systems and operational innovation – one of Australia’s richest examples of applied STEM.

Team Global Express and Daimler Trucks are leading the way, showcasing TGE’s world-first – the integration of 60 electric trucks (a mix of Fusos and Volvos) to its Bungarribee Depot in Western Sydney. It is a powerful example of how engineering, technology and operational thinking come together to solve complex, real-world freight challenges while delivering safer and more sustainable transport outcomes.

For HVIA, this is about more than supporting a careers expo. It is an opportunity to strengthen our workforce agenda by complementing our long-standing commitment to apprenticeships and skilled trades with greater engagement in STEM education and career pathways.

We believe there is enormous potential to better showcase the breadth of rewarding careers our industry offers and inspire more young Australians to see themselves contributing to its future.

HVIA encourages members with innovative products, technologies, engineering capability or workforce initiatives to consider participating. Together, we have an opportunity to help students discover an industry where they can apply their talents to meaningful work that contributes directly to Australia’s prosperity and resilience.

There is no financial contribution required. If someone from your organisation is interested in participating, please contact Steve Power at HVIA (s.power@hvia.asn.au) or Summer Steward at TGE (summer.steward@teamglobalexp.com).
