HVIA Lauds Knorr-Bremse Drive Days

HVIA joined dozens of transport industry stakeholders at the DECA training and testing facility in Shepparton last week to experience a suite of Knorr-Bremse and Bendix safety technology systems in action.

The technologies and presentations included the Bendix ‘Fusion’ system for Autonomous Advanced Emergency Braking (AEB), Knorr-Bremse’s trailer Roll Stability Program (RSP), the ‘iReverse’ driver assistance system, and a practical demonstration of the benefits of the Trailer Road-Train Module (TRM) for electronic brake timing.

Participants experienced all these technologies first-hand, including being in the passenger seat of new trucks (supplied by HVIA member Kenworth Trucks Australia) for the AEB and RSP demonstrations.

Adam Ritzinger, HVIA’s Chief Technical Officer, says he is encouraged to see events like this where members showcase technologies and capabilities in order to educate the entire industry and drive safety improvements.

“It’s fantastic to see so many industry participants from diverse sectors – regulators, fleets, government, equipment providers – all coming together to learn and be upskilled. Huge kudos to the entire Knorr-Bremse team for setting such a high standard,” he says.

Adam was especially pleased to see the presentation from HVIA’s charity partner, Healthy Heads in Trucks and Sheds at the event, and acknowledges the crucial work completed by Naomi Frauenfelder and her team in tackling the mental health challenges in our industry.
