HVIA CEO Addresses Trucking Australia

HVIA CEO Todd Hacking addressed the attendees of Trucking Australia in the opening plenary on Tuesday morning at the Adelaide Convention Centre.

The session focussed on trucking industry issues in the context of the upcoming Australian federal election in May.

Todd highlighted the strong alignment between the ATA and HVIA’s individual election policies and praised the collaboration between the two associations.

Two specific areas of alignment are on decarbonisation and investment in infrastructure. Both associations call for measures to reduce the barriers to entry for low- and zero-emissions heavy vehicles, and improvements to roads to support access for those vehicles.

Todd noted that HVIA and the wider industry are still eagerly awaiting the release of the federal government’s Net Zero Plan, which will set out government priorities, policies and measures to assist the industry to transition to decarbonisation.
