Five Freightliner Cascadias have joined the Heidelberg Materials fleet. The company, formerly operating as Hanson in Australia, selected the Cascadia 126 day-cab models to operate out of depots around Australia.
Due to its low tare weight, the Cascadia is known for its optimum payload, making the day cab an easy choice for truck-and-dog operations.
The American-made Cascadia 126 uses a 16-litre Detroit DD16 engine which produces 600hp and 2,050lb-ft and is known for its efficient operation.
While the Cascadia is available with an 18-speed manual, the Heidelberg Materials trucks were selected with the 12-speed DT12 Automated Manual Transmission (AMT).
The Cascadia is known for its class-leading safety features including a full suite of active safety systems as well as unmatched visibility due partly to its sloping bonnet design and its optional bonnet-mounted spotter mirrors.
Daimler Truck Australia Pacific Vice President Sales, Marketing and Operations, Andrew Assimo, says the Cascadia is the perfect fit for the Heidelberg Materials fleet.

The Cascadia features the Detroit Assurance 5.0 safety package that includes Advanced Emergency Braking System (AEBS), as well as Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) and Lane Departure Warning (LDW). Side Guard Assist is also available as an option.
