Brigade Drives Safer Transport

Brigade Electronics, a global pioneer in vehicle safety technology, has become a Tier One Supply Partner for CLOCS-A (Construction Logistics and Community Safety – Australia), strengthening its commitment to reducing risks for vulnerable road users on Australian roads.

With more than four decades of experience in indirect vision technologies – including advanced collision avoidance systems, pedestrian detection and integrated video telematics, Brigade brings international expertise and proven solutions to support the rapid rollout of CLOCS-A across the construction logistics sector.

Australia’s $200 billion infrastructure boom is reshaping the nation’s cities but also bringing an unavoidable increase in truck movements through urban environments. This raises the risk of interactions with cyclists, pedestrians and motorcyclists. CLOCS-A addresses this challenge with a consistent, nationally recognised standard aimed at improving safety around construction vehicles.

“Construction can’t happen without trucks – but safety doesn’t need to come at the cost of efficiency,” says Emily Hardy, Marketing Manager, Brigade Electronics. “We’re proud to support CLOCS-A and help the industry adopt technologies that protect lives and support productivity.”

Funded through the NHVR’s Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative, CLOCS-A provides a tiered compliance framework that includes clear requirements for indirect vision aids based on the level of certification an operator seeks:

> Bronze: Reverse beepers and either reversing sensors or reversing cameras.

> Silver: All Bronze requirements, plus left-turn audible warnings and left-side blind spot detection.

> Gold: All Silver requirements, plus a Telematics Monitoring System for vehicle location, driver behaviour and fatigue management.

Brigade has led the global conversation around Vision Zero and safer urban transport, including over a decade of work with CLOCS in the UK, and direct involvement in schemes such as London’s Direct Vision Standard (DVS), Milan’s urban safety initiatives and Executive 39 in New York. The company also sits on the Direct Vision Council with Together for Safer Roads (TSR) in North America.

Brigade’s portfolio of safety technology is purpose-built for harsh construction environments and includes:

> White Sound reversing alarms;

> 360-degree bird’s-eye view camera monitor systems;

> Ultrasonic and radar-based obstacle detection;

> Dashcams and mobile digital recording systems; and

> Integrated video telematics, including with Geotab

Innovation continues to drive Brigade’s offering. Two recent breakthroughs are reshaping how operators approach blind spot protection and collision prediction:

> Radar Predict – A dual-radar system that identifies and analyses the movement of cyclists, predicting potential collisions with unparalleled accuracy and reducing false alerts.

> Backeye 360 AI – A surround-view system that not only stitches four vehicle-side images into a seamless overhead view but also uses AI to detect the human form and warn drivers in real time.

Behind every product is a rigorous in-house R&D and engineering process. Brigade only releases solutions that have met demanding quality, performance, and reliability standards – and works with authorised partners to ensure professional installation and long-term support.

“The right safety technology isn’t just about compliance –I t’s about culture,” Hardy adds.

“CLOCS-A gives the industry a practical framework to embed safety into every logistics operation. Brigade is proud to help make that happen.”
