
Powering Australia, a federally funded industry growth centre dedicated to strengthening Australian clean-tech manufacturing for global competitiveness, has announced a new grant offering for industry – the Battery Workforce Skills and Training (BWST) program.
The program offers two types of grants:
> Training Grants: up to $30,000 (excluding GST) to subsidise up to 50 per cent of course fees and materials for battery-related training delivered by an approved provider. These are open to Australian businesses working anywhere in the battery value chain, from mining and refining through to manufacturing, installation, servicing and recycling.
> Training Material Development Grants: up to $50,000 (excluding GST) covering up to 50 per cent of the costs of developing training materials to support a new battery technology a business is commercialising.
Both grants are available on a continuous, first-come first-served basis while funding remains available.
To be eligible, applicants must:
> Be registered in Australia with an Australian ABN;
> Have employees with Australian working rights working in the battery value chain; and
> Propose training that advances the program’s objectives around workforce capability and battery safety’.
