Webinar Unpacks Proposed Master Code Changes

As flagged during HVIA’s recent round of Member Forums, the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator is updating its ‘Master Code’. The proposal represents a major restructure and expansion that could influence how safety and risk are managed across the supply chain and has implications for HVIA members engaging transport companies to haul their freight.

Aaron Louws, the Supply Chain Technical Manager for CoRsafe, a Chain of Responsibility management system operated by HVIA partner NTI, and legal expert Nathan Cecil, Partner at Holding Redlich, have teamed up to deliver a free webinar to industry on the proposal – Proposed Master Code Changes: What Are They, and Why Now?

The proposed Code challenges how businesses previously identified their duties, which may change how transport operators see themselves. The webinar will explore what’s different in the proposed version, why the changes are being considered now, and what they could mean for operations across the industry.

The webinar aims to help attendees gain an understanding of the shift towards a role-agnostic approach, the broader focus on “what is being done” rather than “who is doing it”, and some insight into the increased level of detail and guidance in the 123-page draft.

With a goal of helping to translate complex requirements into practical updates, the webinar will provide insights to help industry participants assess the potential impacts of the proposed changes and prepare for the future.

“We’re incredibly fortunate to be in a position where we can support industry during periods of significant change,” Aaron Louws says. “This webinar is about giving everyone a head start on what this means for them, and to help prepare businesses so they aren’t caught off-guard.”

The webinar will be hosted Tuesday, September 2, 1:00pm-2:00pm AEST. Register here.
