NTC To Reveal Insights on New DG Code

The National Transport Commission (NTC) will be holding a series of “drop-in sessions” to share insights from feedback received on its draft of the proposed new Australian Dangerous Goods Code – as well as to discuss how its proposing to refine the Code as part of the first comprehensive review in 15 years.

While high-level updates occur every two years, this in-depth review seeks to ensure the Code aligns with best practices, industry needs and emerging risks.

The ADG Code sets essential safety requirements for transporting dangerous goods by road and rail, covering classification, packaging, labelling and handling standards.

Over the past 22 months, the NTC has published 12 discussion papers on aspects of the Code that need updating or improving; and prepared a draft update to ensure the Code meets current best practices and the needs of industry and regulators.

As part of the review, in October last year it published a Consultation Regulatory Impact Statement (C-RIS) to gather feedback on the draft Code and evaluate the impact of proposed changes.

Public consultation on the draft ADG Code has now closed, and as part of the next phase the NTC is holding “drop-in sessions” with stakeholders to keep them updated on the feedback received and how it is being incorporated into the draft Code.

Upcoming drop-in sessions will be held on:
