Applications for round 10 of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator’s Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative close 5:00pm AEST on February 17, 2025.
In late November last year, HVIA reported that the Australian Government and the NHVR had allocated $4.2 million to round 10 of the Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative (HVSI), which is dedicated to industry-led road safety projects.
As per previous HVSI grant series, project submissions must directly address at least one of the three themes – safer drivers, safer vehicles or safer road use. Businesses or associations involved in the heavy vehicle industry looking to address a safety gap or issue are encouraged to apply for the grants program.
The Government has already invested more than $41 million across 169 HVSI projects under the first nine rounds of the program, which are delivering outcomes aimed at making Australia’s roads safer for all users.
These projects have included valuable work undertaken by some of HVIA’s members, and HVIA itself. Unveiled in 2023, HVIA’s online training courses covering Load Restraint Fundamentals and Best Practice Tyre Management were both funded through HVSI grants.
The application form and project guidelines, which detail eligibility and the submission process, are available here.
HVIA is more than happy to review grant applications and provide letters of support for members. Please contact Adam Ritzinger on a.ritzinger@hvia.asn.au to discuss.
