Motive Power Mandatory RAV Field July 1

A reminder to industry that motive power will become a mandatory field on the Register of Approved Vehicles (RAV) for all vehicle categories (except trailers) from Wednesday, July 1, 2026.

To ensure applicants are ready for these requirements taking effect, RAV submitters should review their data collection processes and any internal guidance or templates. For example, RAV submitters can confirm that they are using the correct RAV submission template-CSV–2025 by checking it includes motive power in column X.

As motive power is currently an optional RAV field, members can choose to start providing this data before mandatory requirements come into effect.
