The Federal Department of Infrastructure will hold its second (and final) Vehicle Standards Consultative Forum (VSCF) meeting for the year in Melbourne next month.
Since its inception in 2023, its purpose has been to provide a two-way dialog between the government representatives that manage the Australian Design Rules package, and industry.
On the agenda at previous meetings in 2025 and 2024 have been issues that impact a wide range of HVIA members, including braking, couplings, lights, trailer connections, and other safety-related items.
HVIA has used the opportunity provided by the VSCF to raise issues important to members, such as the use of status lights on trailers, and prior to that, the fitment of powered (i.e. driven) axles to trailers.
The next meeting will be held in Melbourne on Wednesday September 17, 2025. Adam Ritzinger, HVIA’s Chief Technical Officer, will attend.
The Department is calling for submissions for the meeting agenda. If you have any issue that you wish to have raised, please raise it with HVIA before August 18, by contacting Adam at a.ritzinger@hvia.asn.au.
