The Productivity Commission has launched a national consultation process to gather feedback on priority reform areas identified under its ‘Five Pillars of Productivity’.
These pillars are said to be central to shaping a more dynamic, resilient and productive economy, and the Commission is seeking input from stakeholders across all sectors.
The five pillars guiding this consultation are:
> Creating a more dynamic and resilient economy – focusing on business investment, regulatory reform and fostering innovation.
> Harnessing data, digital technology and AI – exploring how digital tools can drive productivity across industries.
> Lifting education outcomes – improving the quality and accessibility of education to build a more skilled workforce.
> Delivering better health and aged care services – promoting preventative care and efficient service delivery.
> Building a more efficient and sustainable energy system – accelerating clean energy infrastructure and reducing transition barriers.
These pillars were shaped by more than 500 submissions to the Commission’s ‘Productivity Pitch’ and refined through consultation and research.
HVIA will be making a submission to the consultation process. This is an important opportunity to influence policy directions that could impact investment, innovation and regulatory settings in the heavy vehicle sector.
The Federal Government has indicated that productivity will be a key focus area for this term following its recent election win.
If you would like to contribute to HVIA’s submission or want to share your views on the reform areas, we encourage you to reach out to Chief Advocacy Officer Adele Lausberg at a.lausberg@hvia.asn.au.
The consultation is open until Friday, June 6, 2025, and interim reports will be released in July and August. Further opportunities for a formal submission will occur in August/September of this year.
