HVIA hit the road in South Australia recently, visiting several members across the state to hear about their fantastic sustainability and circular economy projects.
First up was a visit to CMV South Central Truck & Bus, followed by an exploration of the CMV Truck Centre in Cavan.
The CMV team has utilised solar panels at its dealership on Grand Junction Road, and at the Cavan site there is a strong emphasis on employee well-being, with a private gym and training sessions for the team.

Next on the list was a site visit to trailer builder Aldom Transport Engineering. The Aldom team are passionate about serving their customers and are equally passionate about moving forward the conversation to a more sustainable heavy vehicle industry.
The company is actively engaged in the “Race to 2030” and believe that repairing is an important part of the business model.

HVIA then visited Bridgestone’s Bandag facility, which demonstrates a strong commitment to circularity, with very distinct waste streams resulting in limited waste.
Its retreading system allows for up to eight retreads of a tyre, and is a cost effective but reliable option for customers.

Finally, a visit to VE Motion in Murray Bridge showcased the epitome of innovation, with its powered trailers being assembled and soon to be tested.
Additionally, VE Motion’s sister company, Arends Trailers, is helping customers move to aluminium builds which can reduce fuel consumption.
