Applications Open For HVIA Scholarship

HVIA is pleased to announce we will be sponsoring another Trades Women Australia (TWA) scholarship for female apprentices. The scholarship includes financial support to women and non-binary persons working in non-traditional heavy vehicle trades to support them to stay in their dream career.

We encourage members to nominate the female apprentices you have in your team. Each scholarship covers essential financial support and wrap-around mentoring, ensuring women not only complete their apprenticeships but also succeed as skilled professionals in our industry.

We are heartened to hear that many HVIA members are also sponsoring TWA scholarships and sense that the supports and facilities in place for women in our industry is improving daily.

With only seven per cent of technicians and trades roles in industry being held by females, there is still a long road ahead. We are confident that as an industry we can and will work together to improve these metrics and will be utilising the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) statistics to measure and track this in the years to come.

HVIA is also proud to hear from TWA that our recipients from 2025 are still thriving in their careers and contributing a much needed high-level skill set to our industry.

Why Are Scholarships Needed?
TWA’s research conducted on the tradeswomen apprentice and trainee experience for DEWR revealed 89 per cent of those surveyed experienced significant cost of living pressures. With only two-three per cent representation in non-traditional trades, TWA and our proud supporters want to ease cost-of-living burdens for tradeswomen to stay within the role that they love, and help women to kick start commencing trade they are passionate about.

Feel free to share this information across your networks. If you would like to receive the TWA Partner Pack to distribute hard copy information, or would like further information on the project, please contact info@twaus.com.au.
