Act Now! Awards Nominations Close Aug 8

Time is fast running out to nominate for HVIA’s prestigious National Awards, which provide a powerful platform to promote your achievements (and in some cases your innovative products) not only to peers and partners but a wider national audience.

Nominations for the annual awards close next Friday, August 8, 2025, with winners to be announced at the HVIA 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner in December and showcased via HVIA’s large and engaged audience across web, social media and e-newsletters.

The 2025 National Awards feature several exciting new categories, including Sustainability Initiative, Industry Leadership in Workforce Development and Industry Workforce Champion, on top of traditional categories celebrating Production Innovation, Safety Innovation, Community Leadership, Heavy Vehicle Technician Apprentice of the Year, Manufacturing Apprentice of the Year and Specialist Trades Apprentice of the Year.

As Australia’s preeminent awards program for the heavy vehicle industry, the awards provide a unique opportunity to bring recognition to your organisation and its successes, according to 2024 Safety Innovation Award winner, NTI.

NTI’s PR & Media Relations Manager Natalie Easter says the awards provided it with the opportunity to demonstrate precisely how its project aimed at improving safety outcomes in the dairy industry (‘Spilt Milk’) delivered back to industry.

“We were honoured to see industry peers place value in our work. ‘Spilt Milk’ – the project work, the research, and body of resources and materials that have been delivered as a result – have been such a great focus for NTI. To be recognised for this, not only by industry but also project partners and associated participants, was validating,” she says.

“Receiving acknowledgement from HVIA gave further credibility to the project and also resulted in newfound interest. Beyond that – it has also helped generate further research into other areas of heavy vehicle road safety.

“Whilst the multi-year project was done in consultation with industry – the awards themselves gave us the platform to tell the story and connect it back to the work people do every day.”

What’s more, the award win was also important in recognising the contribution of its partners and staff, she adds.

“Getting the acknowledgement wasn’t just about NTI though. This project relied on industry partners being honest and transparent about identifying knowledge gaps and safety issues. Getting recognition for this work was an opportunity to show our participants that they made the right choice by contributing to this important work,” Natalie says.

Producing the nomination showed our people how important our work is. It’s easy to lose perspective when it’s what you do ‘day to day’; but by taking the time to reflect and share the outcomes it gives greater perspective to the importance of this critical work, our expertise and our capacity and capability for using our data to bring around potentially life-saving change.”

Natalie says she would “absolutely” encourage other HVIA members to nominate for the awards: “The awards are a way to bring recognition to the incredible work and collaboration across our industry. The more people who are made aware – the greater the benefit. It’s a way to support and drive positive growth and change.”
