$4.2M Allocated To HV Safety Initiatives

The Australian Government and the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator have signed off on $4.2 million in grants under Round 10 of the Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiative (HVSI), with successful applicants to be announced soon.

Previous rounds of funding under the program – which is dedicated to industry-led road safety projects – have included valuable work undertaken by some of HVIA’s members, and HVIA itself.

Unveiled in 2023, HVIA’s online training courses covering Load Restraint Fundamentals and Best Practice Tyre Management were both funded through HVSI grants.

Applications for Round 10 closed in February this year, and HVIA expected applicants to be informed and successful projects to be announced in August, as per advice on the NHVR’s website.

As no such announcements had been made, HVIA reached out the NHVR for an update. The NHVR advised that some procedural delays had occurred, but the funding brief had been signed off by the Minister’s office, and they were expecting an announcement to be made in the coming weeks.

HVIA will continue to update members as more information becomes available.
