Zenobē has announced a $100 million commitment to accelerate the rollout of zero-emission freight across Australia, which could support a doubling of heavy commercial electric trucks and the charging infrastructure required to power them.
There are around 1,000 heavy electric trucks currently on the road and this funding is designed to help double that number by the end of 2026, at a critical moment for the sector. With 56 per cent of Australia’s truck fleet now more than a decade old, operators are increasingly making decisions about replacement technologies as vehicles reach the end of their operating life.
Zenobē’s $100 million investment will fund not just the electric trucks themselves, but the full ecosystem supporting them, including charging infrastructure and battery replacements.
The system is designed to match or beat the total cost of ownership (TCO) of diesel fleets and also covers upfront planning at no cost to operators, including depot assessments, fleet and energy modelling, and tailored proposals to de-risk the transition.
Zenobē is removing both the financial and technical barriers by funding, designing and optimising end-to-end zero-emission fleet solutions from day one. It aims to remove one of the biggest barriers to adoption by making the transition (TCO) neutral for fleet operators. This will be achieved through a long-term view of asset lifecycles, access to low-cost capital, and the expertise to design, develop and manage cost-effective, fit-for-purpose truck charging infrastructure for diverse customer needs.
“The direction we set in the next five years will define the trajectory for the next two decades,” says Gareth Ridge, Country Director, Australia and New Zealand, at Zenobē.
“Our goal is simple: to make the transition total cost of ownership neutral so the sustainable choice is also the commercial one.”
The announcement builds on Zenobē’s broader growth ambitions globally to support up to 4,000 electric commercial vehicles by the end of 2026.

By combining capital investment with charging infrastructure and fleet electrification expertise, Zenobē aims to accelerate the shift to zero-emission freight while strengthening the resiliency and sustainability of the logistics and supply chain sector.
In December, Zenobē opened Australia’s first off-site electric truck charging hub, located in Mascot, Sydney. The hub features 22 DC fast chargers and parking for up to 44 light commercial trucks, powered by 100 per cent renewable energy.
As part of the project, Zenobē is leasing 60 light commercial electric trucks to the hub’s main tenant, Woolworths, under its innovative Electric Vehicle as a Service (EVaaS) model. This full-service solution includes vehicle financing, battery management, vehicle maintenance and second-life battery repurposing — enabling fleets to transition to zero-emission vehicles with reduced upfront costs and operational risk.
The remaining capacity is available to other commercial fleets and businesses operating in and around Sydney that require access to reliable charging infrastructure.
