WHG Telematics Unit Gets TCA Approval

HVIA member WHG has expanded its range of Transport Certification Australia (TCA)-approved hardware with the approval of its latest device — the 720 Telematics Unit.

The Type Approval by TCA enhances the Australian-owned company’s growing suite of approved solutions and reinforces its position as the first dual-certified provider under the National Telematics Framework for both Telematics and Smart On-Board Mass (OBM).

The 720 Telematics Unit is purpose-built for fleets seeking compliance with the Telematics Monitoring Application (TMA) and Road Infrastructure Management (RIM) under the National Telematics Framework.

“Expanding our technology line-up supports our vision of a broad, dynamic connected ecosystem — one that integrates more of the transport operation into a smarter, safer and more connected future,” says Dylan Hartley, Director of Operations at WHG.

With more than 35 years of innovation, WHG says it continues to lead the industry in delivering world-class technology, telematics, smart wearable and IoT solutions. The 720 —engineered and supported in Australia —reflects the company’s commitment to excellence and is tailored to the needs of the transport, freight and logistics, construction and general industry sectors.

The newly approved 720 device enables CANbus integration and IoT-readiness and offers a broad suite of fleet management features. It seamlessly connects with WHG’s existing IoT ecosystem, extending monitoring beyond vehicles to equipment and auxiliary assets.

Key features include:
> Real-time location monitoring;
> Automated health checks and diagnostics;
> Engine data capture and analysis;
> Geofencing and towing detection;
> Early theft warning;
> IoT module integration; and
> Support for driver ID, TPMS and more.

Dylan Hartley says WHG is committed to pushing the boundaries of hardware innovation and making the adoption of advanced technology more affordable and accessible, “so we can collectively drive safety improvements across Australia’s national fleet”.

“The harmonisation of regulatory frameworks and our collaboration with road authorities and managers is an exciting step forward — and it’s our responsibility to support operators by providing the technology they need to meet these evolving requirements,” he adds.
