Standards Australia has released for public comment AS 2213.1 that covers the selection and marking of pin type couplings, which are often referred to as “automatic couplings”.
HVIA and a number of its members, have been involved in the technical committee which reviewed this standard, concurrently with the suite of standards covering 5th wheel couplings.
The standard has been updated to better align with industry developments since the time of the last revision.
These updates include updating definitions that better align with definitions in regulations (such as the ADR’s and the HVNL) and gives more latitude for innovation by coupling manufacturers.
The draft document for public review may be accessed by following this link to Standards Australia Public Comment Platform Connect.
NOTE: Standards Australia has changed how public comments are managed and submitted. You must first create an account (free of charge ) before a list of standards currently out for public comments are displayed. The new web interface allows the user to submit comments directly to Standards Australia by either submitting a comment against a clause or by submitting comments in bulk.
