Reflections and ambitions

HVIA Chief Executive Todd Hacking has written to members reflecting on 2021-22 and outlining HVIA’s plans for the year ahead.

Dear Members

On behalf of HVIA’s Board of Directors, thank you for your loyal and ongoing support of Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia.

HVIA fully understands membership fees are a discretionary spend, but we sincerely hope you notice the power and value of being part of a collective industry association during times like these.

Linked below is a Membership Value Delivery report which provides a single page snapshot of our achievements and benefits to our members during the last financial year.

Currently, the industry is faced with a complex range of challenges, from supply chain issues to skills shortages; our journey towards zero emissions against a backdrop of rising energy costs, and inflation that is affecting every business and every household.

Where we can, we are helping members overcome these challenges.

Recently, through our State Committee Meetings, HVIA held an open forum on the supply chain to hear, firsthand, the struggles of our members.

The feedback received will form a larger body of work that HVIA will use to advocate for policy reform to ease the burden.

To assist with the national skills shortage, HVIA has bought advertising and editorial space in News Limited’s Step in the Right Direction, a specialised digital magazine which will target nearly 500,000 job seekers, career changers, school leavers and people wanting to upskill.

HVIA is using this feature to promote the opportunities our industry offers and will be channeling enquiries to our members as best we can.

These are just two projects that are being undertaken, in additional to our ongoing technical, regulatory and policy advocacy, as well as two new training modules and working with industry on the future pathway for Zero Emission Vehicles.

Of course, it is under a year to the 2023 Brisbane Truck Show (BTS23). Plans for the show are advancing well, in what will be huge and important industry event.

As always, I welcome your direct feedback at any time, and I hope we have the opportunity to connect more often in the year ahead.

Kind Regards

Todd Hacking
HVIA Chief Executive
