Four finalists have been named in the Product Innovation Award category of the 2025 Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia National Awards.
The Product Innovation Award recognises HVIA member organisations that have designed, developed or applied innovative products, technologies or systems that deliver real-world benefits to the freight and heavy vehicle industry.
The solution may enhance safety, environmental performance, or productivity – or ideally, multiple outcomes. It may be implemented within the business, offered to customers, or contribute more broadly to improved performance across the industry.
Airtec Corporation: AXS SmartOBM On‑Board Mass System
On-board mass systems are essential for safe, efficient freight – and the AXS SmartOBM Series takes them to the next level.
With Bluetooth Mesh connectivity, real-time weight data and a visual payload indicator, drivers can load confidently without risking overloads or delays. Built tough for Australian conditions, the system is smarter, stronger and more cost-effective than its predecessor.
Developed and manufactured locally by Airtec Corporation, the AXS Series is now a Category B type-approved system, validated by Transport Certification Australia.
Its modular design and upgrade kits support scalable adoption across fleets, while enabling access to Performance-Based Standards (PBS) and Higher Mass Limits (HML) – unlocking greater payloads and productivity without compromising safety.
Allotrac: Allie – AI Transport Management Assistant
Transport management systems can be powerful – but often complex. Allie, the AI assistant within the Allotrac.io platform, changes that by making logistics as intuitive as a conversation. Powered by a multi-agent architecture, Allie breaks down complex requests, builds optimal solutions and delivers actionable insights in seconds.
Developed with support from Google Cloud and shaped by real-world customer feedback, Allie eliminates the need for costly business intelligence (BI) services – replacing dashboards and data analysts with instant, natural-language answers. It boosts dispatcher productivity, enhances safety through secure workflows and scales across fleets and specialised operations. Allie sets a new standard for intelligent, accessible transport management.
Cooler: Safe, Hygenic, More Durable Fridge Bodies
Timber has long been a weak link in refrigerated truck bodies – prone to rot, swelling and hygiene risks. Cooler has solved this with a fully timber-free construction, replacing traditional materials with high-strength composites and corrosion-resistant aluminium. The result is a safer, more hygienic and longer-lasting solution for cold chain and general freight fleets.
Developed in response to customer feedback and trialled with food industry partners, the timber-free body is now a standard option across Cooler’s builds. It’s lighter by up to 40 per cent, improving fuel efficiency and payload flexibility, while reducing maintenance and audit stress.
Modular, scalable and built for real-world conditions, this innovation sets a new benchmark in refrigerated transport durability.
QTRS: SolarEdge Powered Refrigeration Trailer
Refrigerated trailers traditionally rely on diesel engines to power cooling – but a new electrification system is changing that.
Combining solar panels, high-voltage batteries and a regenerative eAxle, this innovation enables trailers to operate entirely without diesel, even during long-haul trips and cargo offloading.
Developed through collaboration between QTRS, SolarEdge e-Mobility and TMC Australia, the system is modular, retrofit-ready and tailored to Australian conditions.
Field trials show full refrigeration powered by clean energy, with zero diesel consumption. By simplifying cold chain operations and cutting emissions, this breakthrough sets a new standard for scalable, sustainable freight technology.
The winners of the 2025 Heavy Vehicle Industry Australia National Awards will be announced at the HVIA 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner to be held on Thursday, December 4 at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre. Buy tickets here.
