NTC lays out consultation roadmap for HVNL

The National Transport Commission (NTC) has laid out the road map for the consultation process on the Heavy Vehicle National Law.

Fatigue issues are the first cab off the rank, with work commencing this month.

The NTC has released a request for information and has indicated that it is planning to release a paper next week to commence the consultation on the details of the new fatigue rules which will continue through to early December.

This will be followed by discussions on the Primary Duties under the law which will kick off about a week later.

Technology and Data and Vehicle Access discussions will kick off in November and will continue trough to February.

Discussions on the Assurance framework will commence in the New Year.

The NTC is keen to engage stakeholders, either through attendance at workshops or through directly contacting the NTC.

HVIA will publish links to discussion papers in Talk the Torque as they become available.

HVIA Members with an interest in fatigue management are encouraged to complete the request for information and return it to the Department by Friday 22 December.
