More Time To Respond On Brake Standards

In late July, HVIA reported that the NHVR had released a draft of its updated PBS braking standard, and had opened a period of consultation with industry.

The Directional Stability Under Braking (DSUB) standard draft specifies new requirements for brake technology fitted to PBS vehicles, including the requirement to fit an Electronic Braking System (EBS) to all new trailers and dollies in the PBS scheme.

HVIA ran a member webinar on Wednesday 6th August, and was very encouraged by the strong member attendance and complex discussion on a number of technical and administrative points. A recording of the webinar can be provided to anyone unable to attend.

As a result of those discussions and the complexity of the issues raised, HVIA sought (and received) an extension from the NHVR on its response, until COB Friday 29 August.

HVIA’s response will be managed by Adam Ritzinger and Greg Forbes, who will provide a draft to members via email in the coming weeks.
