MaxiTRANS Announces Significant Transformation

MaxiTRANS, leading supplier of locally manufactured trailing transport solutions, has announced a comprehensive rebrand of its business, released new trailer models, and announced the addition of a spare parts brand.

The company announced today that it is changing its name to Freighter Group, as well as launching a new logo and visual identity designed to reflect the company’s expansive history, transformation journey and future vision.

At a customer event held in the Victorian town of Ballarat this week, the company showcased a $50 Million upgrade of its manufacturing facility to customers, suppliers and industry representatives. It also introduced a new high performance refrigerated trailer offering to market, ‘Freez-R’, a new trailer range, and announced a new spare parts brand, ‘Hitcher Parts’.

Greg L’Estrange, Freighter Group Executive Chairman, commented on these changes within the context of the business’s strategic vision. “We set about embarking on a significant transformation journey when we purchased the trailer business, with the aim of creating a new era for the future of the company and the trailer manufacturing industry in Australia,” said Greg.

“The journey started with a $50m investment into our Ballarat site. This investment has seen the introduction of a range of state-of-the-art equipment and an expansion of the overall footprint of the facility, transforming it into a modern manufacturing environment. The completion of the upgrade puts the business in a position to be able to continue to evolve with the changing needs of our customers long into the future.”, he added.

The ‘Freighter’ name has a long history in Australia, having celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2021 as Australia’s longest standing trailer brand.

The new Freez-R trailer series was created in collaboration with its partners Schmitz Cargobull. It features a body constructed from Ferroplast® technology, sitting atop a locally manufactured Freighter chassis. It will be supplied to market with the brand’s TrailerConnect® trailer telematics system as standard, highlighting the company’s move to modern, digital services.

Alongside Freez-R, Freighter Group has also announced a range of pre-engineered trailers designed to streamline the trailer ordering process. The ‘Ready Range’ of trailers builds on the business’s 80 years of experiences in local trailer manufacture, and provides the market with a competitively priced product at a shorter manufacturing time.

Freighter Group’s new spare parts brand, ‘Hitcher Parts’, will offer customers an expansive range of quality trailer parts, and will soon be available on Freighter products from factory, as well as in the aftermarket.
