HVIA members are encouraged to get involved in AUSMASA’s expanding “Driving Industry Conversations” series, with registrations now open for a range of consultations, webinars and workforce roundtables focused on the future of automotive skills, training and workforce development.
The initiative has been designed to give industry stakeholders a stronger voice in workforce planning, training package development, and broader vocational education and training (VET) discussions. Topics span multiple automotive sectors, including heavy vehicles, electrification, apprenticeships and increasing female participation across the industry.
Of particular interest to HVIA members is the “Continuous Learning in the Heavy Vehicle Industry” online consultation on August 3, 2026, which will bring together people working across heavy vehicle sales, service, parts and repair to discuss current and future training needs.
AUSMASA is also hosting a series of Workforce Insights Roundtable Consultations in Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and Melbourne. These forums will explore skills shortages, training gaps, workforce participation and future workforce requirements, while providing opportunities for industry participants to contribute directly to current research projects, including EV skills and licensing requirements, machine control guidance technicians and non-accredited training.
The sessions include both short educational webinars and longer consultation workshops aimed at gathering direct industry feedback.
HVIA members with an interest in workforce development, training and skills reform are encouraged to participate and help shape the future direction of automotive training in Australia.
