The 2019 Brisbane Truck Show wound up on Sunday afternoon with an almost ten percent increase in patronage through the doors of the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
HVIA Chief Executive Todd Hacking was full of praise for the support of the show from the heavy vehicle industry and its customers.
“It’s been an amazing experience to join the organisation in the lead-up to this event and its so gratifying to see the way it is supported by our members and the broader heavy vehicle industry,” he said.
“Attendance was well up on the last show with 36,921 recorded coming through the doors across the four days.
“The halls were busy and most importantly the exhibitors were meeting with the people they needed to.
“I have had so many of our exhibitors telling me the level of business that was done on the stands,” he added. “There’s no doubt they deserve every bit of that success with the fabulous effort that each and every exhibitor goes to, working with us to create and deliver a world-class event.”
Mr Hacking praised the support of key partners in enabling the continued growth of the show.
“We are surrounded by partners who have great vision,” he said. “Organisations that have a great respect for the past, coupled with strong strategic outlook that helps us to continue to grow and improve the event.”
“I’d like to pay tribute to our Platinum Partner BP Australia who have been with us for every show held at the BCEC.
“Bauer Trader Media have provided phenomenal support and that only continues to grow, both across their popular print and digital transport publications and their broader portfolio.
“National Transport Insurance, through both the NTI and Truck Assist brands, have been an invaluable supporter of HVIA’s various initiatives for years and are now a permanent key partner.
“KPMG have joined us over the last twelve months to undertake a vital research project that will underpin our ability to inform government policy development and how that affects our manufacturing industry and across the full freight task.
“There are a large range of other partners and sponsors who also deserve our recognition and thanks,” Mr Hacking added.
The 2019 truck show featured a number of new initiatives, none more prominent than the addition of the new umbrella event – Australian Heavy Vehicle Industry Week.
“So many of our exhibitors are already holding dinners, drive days, factory tours and other activations around the city, we saw this as a great opportunity to help them leverage those investments.
“The displays in Queen Street Mall by the Daimler Group and in Redacliiff Place by the Volvo Group are two great examples.
“With the support of the Queensland Government and the City of Brisbane we were able to bring that to life in a variety of other ways too.
“We were able to open up Mt Cotton testing and training track for use by our exhibitors and stakeholders.
“NatRoad brought their national conference to Brisbane as a brilliant value-add for attendees.
“The South Bank Roadhouse has been a great addition to the show, allowing our exhibitors to expand beyond the walls of the BCEC and showcase their vehicles and their values to the broader community.
“The atmosphere along Little Stanley Street and Stanley Street Plaza has been like a festival with that display, the entertainment and our visitors’ patronage of all the supporting South Bank precinct traders.”
“We are looking to grow our relationship with all those key partners further again, with a number of other new features on the short horizon.”
“I am so proud of the team that pulls this event together and how well they work with our stakeholders to help each and every one of them achieve their goals.
“More than anything we thank the industry across Australia who have supported this event for over fifty years, and they are telling us in an overwhelming fashion, that they want to see the Brisbane Truck Show prosper for fifty more.”
The Brisbane Truck Show will return to the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre from Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th May 2021.
