In the first two months of this financial year, HVIA has helped more than 20 members from all facets of the member base with technical, regulatory and policy matters.
Advice from HVIA’s team of technical experts – including Chief Technical Officer Adam Ritzinger and Chief Engineer Rachel Michaud – is a critical benefit of HVIA membership, alongside free HR and IR advice, government advocacy services, preferential access to events including Brisbane Truck Show and TruckShowX, workforce development and training programs, and news and information services including the weekly Talk the Torque EDM and ROADBOSS Magazine. The opportunities available to HVIA’s members are detailed on the Technical Advice page on HVIA’s website, and include:
> Interpretation and advice regarding vehicle technical standards and regulations (covering ADRs, VSGs, VSBs, the HVNL, and PBS);
> Advice and support on national vehicle compliance procedures, including Australia’s Road Vehicle Standards Act (RVSA) and the ROVER approvals system;
> All matters related to national and state heavy vehicle access arrangements, including notices, gazettes and permits, for all General Access (GA) and Restricted Access Vehicles (RAVs); and
> All product and equipment-related matters in all sectors of the heavy vehicle industry.
Individuals from truck and trailer OEMs, equipment and service providers and engineering consultants have all recently reached out for support and guidance from HVIA’s Chief Technical Officer Adam Ritzinger and Chief Engineer Rachel Michaud. The lion’s share of queries has been related to specific ADR matters, with HVNL PBS, and heavy vehicle access also popular.
HVIA’s new internal management software is enabling each technical request to be logged, and HVIA will aim to produce a quarterly article in this newsletter outlining the number of requests received from that quarter, and the most popular topics.
