HVIA State Committee Meetings Wrap-Up For 2023

The final round of HVIA State Committee Meetings for 2023 covered key regulatory, policy, and technical changes that impact members and the wider industry

Last Tuesday saw the final HVIA State Committee Meeting for 2023 held at AV Truck Services in Perth, WA.

It followed on from meetings at CMV Truck and Bus in Melbourne, HVIA’s office in Brisbane, and the Mounties function centre near Sydney, all held the previous week.

Members who attended learnt about key regulatory, policy, and technical changes that impact their businesses and the wider industry in general, including:

  • The likely implementation timeframe and pathway for the heavy vehicle width changes;
  • How HVIA will progress with the next steps of its ‘Implementing the Transition to Electromobility – LITE’ program;
  • Details of the NTC’s proposed changes to the Heavy Vehicle National Law, including increasing axle mass, length, and height under General Access;
  • The current status of the axle mass limits trials and permits for low- and zero-emissions heavy vehicles;
  • How HVIA will progress discussions with regulators regarding next-generation powered trailers; and
  • HVIA’s flagship industry conference and event for 2024 – ‘TruckShowX: Implementing the Zero-Emissions Ecosystem’.

HVIA would like to thank all members who attended the meetings throughout 2023, and engaged with staff on the issues and developments that affect them.

We would also like to highlight the contribution of CMV Truck and Bus and AV Truck Services for hosting the meetings at their venues in Victoria and Western Australia, respectively.

The state committee meeting calendar for 2024 will be announced shortly.
