HVIA members take home silverware at VTA Awards

Two members picked up gongs at the 33rd Australian Freight Industry Awards held on Saturday night at Melbourne’s Palladium Room at Crown.

In front of hundreds of attendees to the black-tie event, HVIA member CMV Truck & Bus was bestowed the Investment in People Award – sponsored by Logical Staffing Solutions; while fellow member Hyzon Motors took out the Sustainable Environment Award – sponsored by National Transport Insurance.

Other winners included:

  • Personality of the Year Award: Kevin Halpin (sponsored by CMV Truck & Bus);
  • Female Leadership Award: Katharina Attana of Tasman Logistics Services (sponsored by Viva Energy Australia);
  • Young Achiever of the Year Award: Melissa Scerri of Victoria International Container Terminal ( sponsored by Daimler Truck & Bus);
  • Application of Technology Award: iTrazo Tracetech (sponsored by Transport Certification Australia); and
  • Best Practice Safety Award: Linfox (sponsored by Gallagher).

VTA CEO Peter Anderson says the association is “incredibly proud” of the achievements of all award winners, finalists, and nominees.

“It’s been another tough year as we all work to move higher and higher freight volumes, against a backdrop of labour shortages, higher costs, long lead times for trucks and equipment, and inflationary pressures starting to bite.

“So, to everyone that lodged an entry, thank you for taking the time to share your stories because the accomplishments of our industry are significant, and deserve to be acknowledged,” he says.

The Australian Freight Industry Awards will return in 2024.
