HVIA will mark its landmark 10th year as a national organisation with a gala celebratory dinner to be held at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre on Thursday, December 4, 2025, incorporating its annual National Awards.
Incorporated in 1970 as the Commercial Vehicle Industry Association of Queensland (CVIAQ), the member-based association successfully transformed into a national entity in 2015 which now boasts a membership of more than 300 manufacturers, importers, distributors and repairers of trucks, trailers and related parts and accessories.
In a message to members, Chief Executive Officer Todd Hacking urges everyone to mark the occasion in their diaries and make a special effort to join us with members of your team or customers for this special celebration.
“We will again be conducting our National Awards on that evening and celebrating the industry. Our goal is to have over 400 attendees come together to celebrate another great year,” he adds.
“Our first decade as a national organisation was about getting the right balance, between acknowledging our history and celebrating the legacy of CVIAQ, whilst also unashamedly growing as we spread our wings into new waters. I hope we’ve done that.
“There is no doubt that we have changed a lot with a new magazine in ROADBOSS, a new conference in TruckShowX, and an expanded Brisbane Truck Show footprint called Truck Week.
“We have also been able to add new staff personnel, additional resources, increased services to support our newer members, which has doubled in the last five years alone.
“All of this is not possible without our five new Corporate Partners in NTI, Caltex, Wurth, Geotab and Truckline.
“What has, and will always, remain the same, is our passion to support our members, our enthusiasm to showcase the industry’s best and an unwavering commitment to achieve our Purpose: ‘To promote and advocate for an innovative, safe, productive and sustainable heavy vehicle industry’.”
Todd notes that 2025 also brings with it a Federal Election sometime before the end of May – as well as the much-anticipated Brisbane Truck Show. “Both are important events for the industry,” he says.
This week, HVIA distributed its list of Election Priorities to all 227 Federal MPs and Senators. The document calls for government assistance to support the heavy vehicle industry address pressing issues such as the transition to net zero emissions, growing the future workforce, enhancing road freight productivity, and optimising Australia’s road infrastructure. “These actions are essential to not only improve the safety of the fleet but also in securing a sustainable future for Australian heavy vehicle manufacturers and importers while driving innovation and achieving government objectives,” he says.
“As an industry, we are strong when we unite. When we can stand behind our purpose identified above and celebrate our industry. The HVIA Board is as dedicated as ever and with a new Strategic Plan and exciting developments underway, I know HVIA’s best years are ahead.
“I look forward to sharing more detail in the coming weeks and months and as always I take this time to thank you for your loyal support, contributions to our policies, attendance at our events and for your ongoing membership.”
