Guidance Sought On Euro VI Axle Mass

Following on from earlier HVIA announcements on the topic, discussion around the implementation of Euro VI axle mass increases continue to feature prominently at industry events.

HVIA understands that the NHVR is planning on releasing further official information later this month, which may include a new vehicle standards guide (VSG) covering Euro VI axle mass approval status for individual vehicles.

Until that material is released, HVIA reminds members that the NHVR released an information sheet in September this year, which answers some of the implementation questions that are topical, including:

  • How the mass limit increases apply;
  • How the mass limits apply to vehicles operating under HVNL notices and permits such as CML and HML;
  • How the mass limits apply to Performance Based Standards (PBS) vehicles; and
  • Eligibility criteria for Euro VI (ie ADR 80/04) heavy vehicle types.

The NHVR’s Euro VI information sheet is available here.

HVIA will publish details of all further NHVR guidance material as soon as it becomes available.
