Regional Development Australia Murray will host a forum in Wodonga on August 13 titled ‘Electrification of the Hume Highway’, which will explore the infrastructure, technology and industry transformation driving the electrification of one of the nation’s most critical supply chain corridors.
Part of a new event series, Regional Futures: In Focus, the half-day forum will bring together leaders from freight, manufacturing, energy, infrastructure and government to investigate the practical realities of heavy vehicle electrification, including fleet transition, charging infrastructure, workforce development and the future of Australia’s busiest freight corridor.
Kicking off at 12:00pm at The Cube, Wodonga with lunch, networking and an EV showcase, the forum will explore key issues including: freight electrification and charging infrastructure; grid readiness and energy delivery; real-world industry transition case studies; the myths and realities of electric heavy vehicles; and the future of freight and supply chains in regional Australia.
The program will feature keynote presentations, expert panels, networking opportunities and live electric heavy vehicle displays, along with an optional visit to the Wodonga TAFE Heavy Vehicle Technology Precinct.
Speakers will include Mark Gjerek, Founder and Director of Mov3ment, and Rainer Knobloch, Co-Founder of NewVolt.
The forum will also include several panel sessions, including one exploring the realities of fleet electrification, including range, payload and terrain, cost and ROI, transition challenges, and what operators need to do next. Facilitated by Mark Gjerek, it will feature panellists Chris Brooks, Contracts Manager Road Logistics at Bluescope Steel; David Coleman, Chief Operating Officer of O’Brien Logistics; and Andy Divall from Divall’s Earthmoving & Bulk Haulage.
A second panel session will focus on infrastructure issues and will include panellists Bo Christensen, Innovation and Implementation, NewVolt; Anthony Iannunzio, Project Estimator, Major Projects, JetCharge; and Rebecca Wilson, Head of Business Solutions at Ampol.
The final panel session will focus on workforce issues and include Andrea Cook, Head of Innovation, Northern Victoria Institute of TAFE; and Greg Mitchell, Head of Clean Energy Initiatives, Bendigo Kangan Institute.
