The Department of Infrastructure has produced a suppliers’ guide on applying for and managing “not-reporting” status for voluntary recalls.
The guide provides information for suppliers that have made substantial progress on a recall but find that rectification rates have stalled and they have not been able to complete the recall.
Importantly, a recall is not closed until the rectification is 100 per cent complete, but the guidance material allows for the status of a recall to be changed to “not-reporting”.
The guidance explains how a supplier can apply for “not-reporting” status and the criteria for assessing these requests.
It also provides information on how the reporting of progress of the recalls should happen and how suppliers should proceed with the recall after receiving “not-reporting” status.
