DAF Trucks Australia has unveiled the “New Generation” DAF range, representing the most significant transformation of the DAF product line in more than three decades.
The truck maker says it is far more than a styling update; the new range has been designed from the ground up with all-new cab architecture, advanced safety technologies, improved aerodynamics and greater driver comfort, delivering a new level of transport efficiency.
DAF says the journey began in 2024 with the introduction of the flagship DAF XG – the first New Generation DAF model built at PACCAR Australia’s Bayswater facility.
Since entering service, the company says the XG has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from customers and drivers, with operators reporting excellent fuel efficiency, driver satisfaction and productivity. Extensive local validation demonstrated that the all-new new cab design and advanced aerodynamics deliver real-world transport efficiency benefits.
Building on the success of the XG, DAF is now introducing the XB, XD and XF to complete the New Generation DAF line-up. The range comprises four models, each engineered to serve a broad segment of transport applications.
The compact XB, powered by an efficient seven-litre engine, is ideal for urban environments and city distribution. The versatile XD, equipped with an 11-litre engine, delivers flexibility across distribution and vocational applications. The XF, powered by a 13-litre engine, is engineered for interstate freight and long-distance productivity. Leading the range is the Australian-made premium XG, powered by a 15-litre engine and designed to deliver the ultimate combination of long-haul efficiency, comfort and performance.
Together, they provide an exceptional balance of capability, efficiency and productivity across almost every transport application.
PACCAR Australia Managing Director Damian Smethurst says the launch of the new DAF range is a significant milestone for the company and “demonstrates our ongoing commitment to delivering innovative transport solutions for Australian operators”.
“The locally manufactured DAF XG and low-tare DAF XD, built at our Bayswater facility, combine global engineering excellence with Australian manufacturing expertise to deliver outstanding performance, efficiency and customer value,” he adds.

“At the heart of the launch is DAF’s global New Generation DAF theme, ‘Powering your Success’. It reflects DAF’s belief that great trucks should do more than transport freight. They should help improve customers’ profitability through maximised uptime, reduced operating costs and the ability to attract and retain skilled drivers.”
PACCAR Australia Director Sales and Marketing Andrew Molnar notes the new range enables the company to provide customers with a transport solution for almost every application, from urban distribution through to interstate linehaul. “The result is that customers can choose the right DAF vehicle, support package and transport solution to power their business success,” he says.
“The New Generation DAF cab proven in the XG is now shared across the XD and XF, so the same driver comfort, visibility and fuel efficiency we’ve heard from XG operators now extends across the range. That’s a significant advantage for Australian fleets.”
