CMV Truck & Bus Powers Up With Volvo Penta Franchise

HVIA member CMV Truck & Bus has unveiled its latest business venture, securing the exclusive Volvo Penta industrial products franchise for Victoria.

The strategic expansion solidifies the group’s position as an industry leader in supporting customers’ transition to renewable energy sources.

Industrial Power Systems offers a range of Volvo Penta industrial products, excluding commercial and leisure marine. These includes high-performance industrial and power-generation engines, electric power solutions, and battery energy storage systems (BESS), all backed by aftersales support.

The new business is supported with an extensive distribution network throughout Victoria which utilises CMV Truck & Bus metropolitan and regional locations as well as the existing Volvo Penta industrial dealer network.

Industrial Power Systems currently operates from the CMV Truck & Bus dealership, located in Derrimut.

Volvo Penta’s Director – Industrial Business Tim Hutchison says the Volvo Penta franchise is in safe hands with the experienced Industrial Power Systems team.

“We are thrilled to partner with CMV Truck & Bus, a trusted partner of our parent company Volvo Group Australia for over 50 years,” he says.

CMV Truck & Bus General Manager Miles Crawford, pictured above with Industrial Power Systems Sales Manager Mick McGee, says the new venture will enable the company to assist customers on their transformation journey to renewable energy, perfectly aligning with Volvo Group Australia’s objective of working towards a net-zero future.

“Commencing the Industrial Power Systems business as the Volvo Penta industrial products franchise is another way that we are delivering our customers with broader and future-focused solutions,” he adds.

“Across all of our businesses, we are continuously working towards sustainable solutions as government changes evolve and encourage lower-emission initiatives.”

Industrial Power Systems and CMV Truck & Bus are divisions of the wider CMV Group, which this year celebrates 90 years in business. Commencing operations in 1934, the CMV Group, now a fourth-generation family business, operates substantial light automotive and heavy vehicle dealerships, predominately in Victoria and South Australia, and also has farming interests.
