The national transport and mobility collaborative R&D centre, iMOVE, has opened a second round of funding under its Impact Assessment Program, this time with a $2 million pool available to support promising transport innovations.
Funded by the Commonwealth Government CRC Program since 2017, the program contributes to iMOVE’s overarching mission to advance the development and adoption of technologies that improve Australia’s transport systems, through high-impact R&D collaborations.
To date, iMOVE has partnered with over 60 organisations to help solve business and community transport challenges, develop and improve products and services, and create an evidence base for policy making in transport and mobility.
The initial 2023 round of IEP helped progress new technologies in the areas of e-micromobility and public transport accessibility. It is now seeking to support additional initiatives that could improve transport for Australia.
Applications are eligible from any organisation with an Australian ABN that has a compelling transport-related initiative. This includes established businesses and start-ups, research centres and universities, and any other entities active in this space.
Submissions should be emailed to the IEP mailbox before 5:00pm (AEST) on May 26, 2025 with results to be announced in July. The successful projects must be completed by September 2026.
Organisations must apply for funding within the range $100,000 (minimum) to $500,000 (maximum) excluding GST.
Key criteria includes:
> Capability and capacity to undertake and successfully deliver the project;
> Resources committed to the project by the applicant and any partners;
> A clear, credible and appropriately detailed project plan, including governance structure and risk assessment;
> Expected impact and benefit to the Australian transport and mobility sector;
> The likelihood of the project outcomes to create impact and benefit; and
> Value of proposed outputs relative to the grant funding being requested.
Submissions must include a credible and realistic plan for the implementation of the project outputs and the realisation of impact on the transport sector.
